ProTect Versicherung AG goes live with Faktor Zehn software in only 8 months and reaches its first milestone in IT modernization.

Dusseldorf, October 15th, 2020 – As a provider of customized innovative insurance solutions, ProTect Insurance is on a growth path. In order to be able to sell products and services on a sustainable basis in the long term, the subsidiary of Provinzial Rheinland Versicherung AG launched a project to realign its IT systems on February 26, 2020.

Within a project lasting only eight months, both Faktor-IPM as the new policy system and Faktor-IOS as the offer/quotation system were introduced for the technology protection division and set into production.
In addition, the entire IT infrastructure was modernized on October 1st, 2020. The application landscape is now based on the latest technologies: These include distributed Microservices with Spring Boot, a loose coupling with a highly available Kafka messaging system and the use of decentralized databases. Furthermore, a single sign-on with Redhat SSO was implemented and Instana and Elastic were used for monitoring and analysis.

The biggest challenge in the project was the integration into Provinzial’s IT system landscape. During the course of the project, all relevant peripheral systems (such as collections and commis-sions) had to be connected in such a way that no adaptation effort was required. Thanks to the high degree of flexibility and the functional scope of the Faktor Zehn Suite, the integration went smoothly.
The entire project was implemented agilely by a team of ten people.
In the next phase, the Claims system and the Faktor Zehn Business partner system will be introduced and further products rolled out.
